Driver on the run after hitting motorcyclist in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – Troopers are searching for a driver that hit a motorcyclist, seriously injuring the man, on US 41 in Charlotte County on Monday.


Just before 5 p.m., a car was driving southbound on US 41 at Dahlgren Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median. The car entered the northbound lanes of US 41 and hit a motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist, a 33-year-old man from Venice, was left with serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

After hitting the man, the unknown driver made a U-turn on US 41 and drove away on Dahlgren Avenue.

The driver was in a white 2016 to 2017 Honda Accord possibly with a Pennsylvania License plate, Troopers say.
