And while most of it revolves around motorcycle, not all of it. It’s just pretty sweet group of like-minded folks! Here are some facts most people don’t know about motorcycle clubs..
1. Outlaw Clubs
Thanks to popular media, the first thing that comes to mind after hearing “motorcycle club” is a bunch of outlaw thugs. However, the truth is that the outlaw clubs are referred to as “1 Percenters” or roughly about the percentage of clubs that do illegal stuff.
2. Chain of Command
They may not be gangs, but a chain of command still exists. You’ll almost always find positions like President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Sergeant-at-arms. It’s sort of needed to manage a large group of people, even if they’re like a family.
3. Creative Nicknames
“Gray Bear”, “Gunner”, and “Preacher” are the kind of names you can hear members calling others with.
4. Hand Signals
Over group rides, every club member perfects the art of hand signals. They’re used to communicate a variety of things to fellow riders.
5. The Prestige of Full-patch Status
You generally join as a “prospector”, and may stay that way for months, even years. Only when your loyalty and fineness is proven that you get to dawn the club’s vest, a prestige known as the “full-patch membership”.
6. Charity Work
